FAQ
Licensing
"Invalid key" on activation? Check the input (format XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX, hyphens optional) and that the key came from an official channel. Otherwise contact your seller.
"Bound to another device"? The key is bound to a different machine. If the old machine boots, unbind on its panel; otherwise use the self-service unbind page linked in the error (once per 30 days per key).
What happens at expiry? Buy a new key and type it into the same input box — it renews in place, license record unchanged.
Does it work offline? Yes. Verification is local; refresh resumes when the network returns. A 72-hour grace window starts when the token expires.
Moving to a new machine permanently? Panel → Unbind this machine → activate on the new machine. Unbinding preserves the remaining term.
Connecting
No tools show up in the client?
- Is the service running (panel toggle)?
- Is the workspace enabled?
- Does the client URL exactly match the copied one (including the UUID)?
- Does the client support Streamable HTTP?
Phone / remote AI cannot connect? You must use the public tunnel endpoint (https domain), not 127.0.0.1. See Public Access.
Search tool complains about ripgrep? The installer bundles rg.exe; for the portable build install ripgrep (winget install BurntSushi.ripgrep.MSVC) or set ripgrepPath in the config.
Diagnostics/symbols come back empty? No language server registered for that language — see Feature Reference · LSP.
Does launching from a directory expose it? No. Workspaces are only added explicitly (panel or workspace add); the launch directory is never auto-registered.
"An instance is already running"? Normal: the service is up, and the new process exits after the notice. To add a directory to the running service use -workspace <path> or the panel.
Operations
Can I change the ports? Yes — port (MCP, default 18765) and adminPort (panel, default 18766) in the config; the panel port is always loopback-only.
How do I troubleshoot?aeasymcp doctor first; then the panel's log page or the error records under logs/.
Does upgrading lose data? No. Config, the workspace registry, licensing and memory all live in the data directory; upgrades only replace program files.
What does uninstall leave behind?uninstall removes the PATH entry and the program; config and data directories remain for manual deletion.
