Quick Start

From zero to your first AI client connected to a local workspace in ten minutes: install → activate → connect.

1. Install (Windows)

Option A: setup wizard (recommended)

Download the installer (currently v2.5.27, Windows 10+, no admin rights). Run AeasyMCPServer-Setup-<version>.exe and follow the wizard (no admin rights needed; installs per-user). The program starts automatically when the wizard finishes and opens a console window.

Option B: portable

Unzip the portable archive anywhere and run aeasymcp-windows-amd64.exe. Config and data are created next to the exe — no registry, no system changes.

2. Open the control panel

The installer already started the service; for the portable build just double-click the exe. Then open:

http://127.0.0.1:18766/panel

The panel binds to loopback only and never exposes itself to the network. The browser opens automatically on first start.

3. Activate

Enter the CDKey you received from your purchase channel (format XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX) on the panel's "License" page:

  1. Paste the key into the input box;
  2. Click Activate — once activated, the MCP service and tunnel are ready to start;
  3. The card shows your plan, expiry date and days remaining.

One key binds one machine. Offline use keeps working (72-hour grace window).

4. Add a workspace

On the panel's "Workspaces" card:

  • Click Add, type the absolute path of your project directory (or pick it with the folder browser);
  • Each workspace gets its own MCP endpoint (a URL containing a UUID).

TIP

Starting the program from a directory does not register that directory as a workspace. Workspaces are only added explicitly here — your home directory is never exposed by accident.

5. Start the service

Use the toggle at the top of the panel (or the toggle command). The workspace card then shows the local endpoint:

http://127.0.0.1:18765/mcp/<uuid>

6. Connect your AI client

For Claude Desktop, add to the MCP server configuration:

json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "workspace": {
      "url": "http://127.0.0.1:18765/mcp/<your-workspace-uuid>"
    }
  }
}

Restart the client — it can now read and edit files in the workspace, run commands and inspect diagnostics. More clients (Cursor, etc.) in MCP Clients.

Useful commands

Installed mode uses aeasymcp; portable mode runs the exe directly:

bat
aeasymcp serve :: start the service (foreground)
aeasymcp status            :: show status
aeasymcp toggle            :: start/stop toggle
aeasymcp doctor            :: environment diagnostics
aeasymcp workspace add D:\Projects\demo :: add a workspace
aeasymcp workspace list
